NOKIA - THE PASSENGER

Will you take on the streets of Paris?

Drive the streets of Paris in real video

This branded entertainment experience pioneered a technique that allows the Flash engine to laterally translate a wide angle video file, creating an interactive video experience that mimics steering a car while driving through the streets of Paris. Nokia won a Cannes Cyber Lion.

CODE DEVELOPMENT

This game was a first of its kind. It allowed a user to control video inside a game engine inside the browser. At the outset we believed it was not technically possible but the developer and director figured out a method that was ingenious.

WEBSITE

A beautiful website contained the experience and won multiple awards including an FWA.

ADVERTISING

It was important to keep gameplays to a European audience. Although it became popular in North America over 85% of gameplays happened in the regions where the demographic lived and worked.

EXPERIENTIAL ASSETS

Making use of the red camera and the Nokia official car we were able to secure the camera to the vehicle and drive the streets of Paris capturing video footage. This was then transcoded into the Adobe Flash engine and working with their team provided the first instance of a video game using actual video.
